In this workshop we invite you to enter into a musical conversation with Omar McCutcheon, whose celebrated work as Batu has pushed at the vanguard of bassweight dance music. Omar will discuss some of the ideas and concepts he implements when DJ-ing that help him make decisions about what musical path to follow when performing. Under the mentor’s watchful eye and keen ear, the participants will have a chance to work with the tracks of their own choosing, learning how to pick up various treads and themes and weave them into a story. This late-evening workshop will be a prelude to an open decks session and breathing space to relax and spend time together.
