This session will be rich in sound, exploring the practice of listening to nature and why we do it – or rather why it might be worth doing. Are there ideal times for it? How can we truly listen, in order to really hear? Could listening to nature also be a form of exploitation? What draws us closer to listening – and what distances us from it? Together with nature sound recordist Izabela Dłużyk, participants will reflect on these and other questions, while listening to recordings Dłużyk has made in diverse corners of the world – recordings made possible in moments when nature allowed itself to be heard.
